Classic Haute Route.

Course Summary

This is the Classic Haute Route – a superb high level journey from Chamonix to Zermatt, taking in some of the very best Alpine scenery.

Course Content

Starting in the shadows of Mt Blanc the Classic Haute Route crosses several high cols, traverses glaciers and passes the highest and most impressive peaks in the Alps before descending to Zermatt at the very foot of the Matterhorn.   

Experience / Fitness / Ability

The Haute Route is essentially a glacial journey which is a technically easy route but there can be some long days. Experience of winter hill walking is useful but don’t worry if you have none as using crampons and ice axe will be covered during the initial days.

Course Location 

Starting in Chamonix we travel to Zermatt where we will return to Chamonix by taxi.

Classic Haute Route

Cost: £1350 per person.

Ratio: 1:6 maximum.

Number of days: 6 days. Sunday - Friday inclusive.

Included: All Guides fees, 7 nights accommodation either in mountain huts on half board or a hotel in the valley on a B & B basis.

Not included: Transport to and from the course venue, uplift, evening meals in the valley, lunches, insurance, equipment hire.
